Private Residences
Working with listed buildings sits at the core of our practice. These projects require an understanding of heritage, materials and historic significance, as well as the ability to introduce modern interventions with sensitivity and clarity. Whether we are repairing, adapting or extending a Grade I, II* or II building, we begin by carefully analysing its history, fabric and architectural importance so that every decision is well informed.
Our conservation expertise allows us to work confidently with heritage bodies, planning authorities and specialist craftspeople to ensure that all interventions are appropriate and respectful. We aim to preserve the qualities that make listed buildings unique while ensuring they remain safe, usable and capable of supporting contemporary life. This balance between preservation and adaptation defines our work in this field.
Projects

Johnson Hall, Eccleshall
Following a previous internal subdivision creating 5 separate apartments, a scheme of internal re-ordering has been granted planning approval to return this Grade II listed property to its former glory as a traditional countryside family home.

Asterley Hall, Minsterley
A Grade II listed, late 17th century, red brick Farmhouse. Full planning approval was granted for repairs and internal reordering, new and replacement windows, a rear extension and a classical stone portico to form a distinct entrance.

Hargreaves Farm, Winnington
The Grade II* Farmhouse is a heritage asset of the highest significance and has been on the Heritage at Risk Register for 20+ years. The proposed works have been carefully shaped to remain proportionate and preserve its significance.

Hargreaves Barn, Winnington
2025
The barn development involves a small extension and selective internal alterations to provide improved accommodation while respecting the barn’s historic form, U-shaped layout and historic materials.

Whitehall, Pontesbury
A heritage-led residential project focused on the sensitive management of change to a historic property and its setting, securing the long-term sustainable use of Whitehall as a family home, while safeguarding its contextual significance.

Grove Farm, Condover
The addition of an orangery, together with the conversion of an existing garage into a dining room, will form the key component of open-plan living. A focal point strengthening the relationship between the old and new.

The Hollies, Colemere
The strategy for the Grade II listed house has been carefully considered to respond to the constraints within the historic layout. Internal reorganisation will provide increased flexibility and improved circulation for modern family living.

Sheinwood Cornmill, Much Wenlock
Sheinwood Corn Mill is a late 18th century Grade II listed brick building. It used to be part of Sheinwood Manor and stands in two acres of land in the Shropshire countryside. We were briefed to repair and convert into a five-bedroom house over three floors.

Ruyton Manor, Ruyton XI Towns
Ruyton Manor is a Victorian Manor House, built in 1860, in the Neo-Norman Castle style. We were commissioned to transform the Manor into a comfortable and well equipped, twenty-first century family home, through sympathetic restoration and modernisation.

Longwood Hall
A derelict, redundant farm building required a complete overhaul to form a substantial family home. The outbuildings were in poor condition and needed structurally restoring before elements could be restored and updated, forming an elegant living space.

The Cottages, Baschurch
The scheme consisted of repairs to the existing dwelling and a new extension to rationalise the kitchen and dining space. The extension utilised high quality building materials which included a lead covered overhang, aluminium windows and roof-lights and locally sourced larch.

The Mount, Shropshire
We designed an outstanding neo-classical home built entirely of sandstone. Combining subtlety through the use of pared-back classicism, with the dramatic backdrop of the unspoilt eighteenth-century parkland. Now hailed by Country Life as one of the ‘Greatest homes built in Britain this century’
