The approved scheme at St Mary’s Hall, Shrewsbury transforms a historic former church hall within the town centre conservation area into three high-quality townhouses. Gaining planning consent in this location typically requires careful negotiation and iteration; however, this proposal was approved within eight weeks of submission, reflecting a clear and well-resolved design approach.
Working with the existing fabric, the design introduces minimal intervention, allowing the building to shape the internal spaces. The result is a series of generous, well-proportioned homes that balance open-plan living with defined private areas, delivering contemporary accommodation while retaining the character and integrity of the original structure.
The project represents a confident, conservation-led intervention—securing the long-term future of a distinctive building while contributing meaningful new housing to Shrewsbury town centre.
