Sascott Farm

Sascott Farm barn is a classic 19th Century Victorian shippon, or cow barn, retaining all the trademarks of a high quality Victorian Estate farm building but lacking in a purpose for the present.

After successfully gaining planning consent, attention was focused on proposing a thorough repair and conversion of the building to form a family home that would still bear all the trademarks of a simple, agricultural building, and that would embrace its setting in the open countryside with minimal impact.

The detailed design of Sascott Farm barn utilised high levels of thermal insulation, photovoltaic panels and a bore hole ground source heat system, resulting in a highly sustainable conservation project re-using a historic building – a difficult balance to achieve.

Throughout the interior, high quality materials that are local and relevant to the buildings origins are being used such as Grinshill stone, welsh slate and local timber for the weatherboarding and joinery.
