In 2015, Upper Darnford was what remained of a rather muddled and neglected late 18th/early 19th century rural smallholding, nestled deep in the heart of the Long Mynd – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Shropshire.
Over a period of 12months a scheme was produced that would finally bring Upper Darnford into the 21st century, whilst fully retaining and embracing its honest, simple agricultural past. Substantial repairs were undertaken to all areas along with major alterations, such as the rebuilt rear extension, new link passage and enhanced ‘lower house’ with unadulterated views to the north through its new large full height dormer.
A highly efficient photovoltaic system has been installed to take advantage of its orientation, along with a highly sustainable water supply and storage system that makes use of its long-established natural spring.
